-- Evidently bogus report/Paul Menzel "Sign of the Times" --

We sent out a report last week we could not confirm or deny and so stated that we did not know if bogus---and for anyone to let us know one way or the other, as we could not reach the sender or anyone else.

Today we received the following as it appears the fax was evidently "bogus."

To Whom It May Concern:

Triad Equipment Co. is aware of a "bogus fraud alert" that is being circulated to some of the leasing companies and funding sources. We would like to state that all of the statements made in this bogus circulation are unfounded and untrue. We are a reputable and well established equipment company located in San Bernardino, working hard to best serve our customers and the funding sources we work with.

We believe this bogus fraud alert originated from one of our competitors with the intention to harm the relationship we have with our lenders. A police report has been filed and we are suing this individual for slander. If you have already received this bogus alert, please contact us to let us know so that we may further prosecute this individual. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to call us @ 909-883-3668 or email: TriadEquipment@aol.com

If you are one of the companies that has received this bogus alert and forwarded this information to other companies, please be aware that you are passing on false information.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

DEAN M. DROUIN

General Sales Manager

Given Rick's clarification of what happened, he is absolutely entitled to be upset with the "funder" for changing written approval terms and conditions. It seemed to me that the funder was requiring a guarantee on the latest approval after having accepted Corp Only on prior schedules. In any case, there are a lot of skittish underwriters in this environment, so it is advisable for all concerned, originators and funders, to communicate effectively. Unfortunately this is a sign of the times. This is not fun times for a lot of people in the industry. However, the best at their jobs will survive and prosper.

From American Leasing MIS Dvung Vuong: "

Our PC-Cillin 2000 at Viruscan email server caught 'VBS_LOVELETTER_0; while this virus passes our Interscan Network Anti-Virus and Norton AntiVirus.

PC-Cillin 2000 can not clean it. But at least it can move this virus away to quarantine before it is down loaded by office users and expand it out. I am going to disable Norton and install PC-Cillin 2000. I don't know if you aware of Trend-micro and Norton new Virus pattern server is updated for every two days. I will follow up and doing a update to all office computers virus program ASAP"

This is the third time PC-Cillin has caught a virus that has gotten through Norton. The first time through Intrascan. We had McAfee but had better luck with PC-Cillin that McAfee did not get two viruses. I thought Norton was more up-to-date, but evidently now.

The virus is still out there. Be very, very careful. Kit Menkin P.S. PC-Cillin 2000 is available at www.antivirus.com
