June 7 , 2001 Extra Edition Viewed as a major blow to the leasing industry, particularly to the East Coast, Citicorp has ordered European American to cease third party origination by June 30. As they did with Copelco, Citicorp does not like brokerage business. European American President Ira Romoff has resigned. It is expected Fred Anderson will be on the streets shortly, along with Omar Diaz and Rich Illich ( I hope we have these names spelled correct as this was just telephoned in to us from the crab fest being held by the Eastern Association of Equipment Leasing in Hanover, Maryland. If you will note by the many responses of companies looking for direct salesmen in recent editions of Leasing News, it appears the trend is going back to the 1970's, where companies had their own sales force to secure business.
