Balboa Capital Complaint Settled Amicably

According to Jerry Gonzalez,  the complaint regarding his website and

lease contract has been resolved by Balboa Capital.  This originally

had to do with a website about his complaint concerning the renewal

of his lease.

Shawn Giffin, president of Balboa Capital, was on vacation as the

problem escalated from Customer Service to the world wide web.

Chairman Pat Byrne said in a previous interview he would not

have ordered the website taken down.  President Giffin said he

would have personally gotten involved. He has given Leasing

News his direct telephone number where he will personally

look into any customer complaint that is brought to his attention.

It is not uncommon in the leasing industry to have 90 to 180 day

cancellation notices.  Pat Byrne said Balboa Capital ended the 180 day

notice several years ago.

A kind word should go to Balboa Capital attorney Chris Parsons for his work

in resolving all the issues.  Peace on Earth.

FNF Capital Closing Down Clarification

We printed  the memo and reaction from Mark Watkins about closing

down the broker program, but heard from others that FNF Capital has

other divisions, and asked Rich Viola for a clarification:

“I would offer the following to clarify - this applies to FNF Capital, Small

Business Leasing Group.

“The Technology Lease Group continues to function as normal. Also, FNF Capital will continue to service (bill, collect, etc.) all of its leases through end of lease term with a small group in CA. The anticipated completion of this move is scheduled for 12/31/01.”

A person found a job through Leasing News, and will give us a report

on his first day, we hope.  Here are some other

                             Classified Ad Reaction----

Thank you for providing the medium.  LeasingNews has become the essential

daily read in the leasing industry.  We have received one very qualified

candidate with whom we are seeking an initial phone interview.  We have also

reached out to one candidate on the Jobs Wanted page (obviously the San

Diego candidate) to see if there is an interest in a sales position.

In comparison to our other recent recruiting ads, your site has been the

most rapid in return, not to mention the most targeted.

We hope to take this opportunity within the lease industry to increase our

market share.  It is our goal to add 3 Vendor salespeople by years end.

I received an application for a very junior processor from LA that looks very

green and needs a relocation package so we'll keep looking.

I have 2 sales resumes which are stronger.  We'll see.  All in all I think

it is a great service.  I'll let you know how things go.

Thanks-

In this short time, Andrew from ILS in Carlsbad offered a sales position.

Unfortunately I am looking for an operations or credit role.  I did however

send resumes to two companies that listed job openings on your site.  I'm

keeping my fingers crossed.

It's nice to have a site which lists jobs in the leasing industry only.  The

other sites seem to be recruiters harvesting resumes for their databases.

The classified section was a great idea.

Keep up the good work.

I noticed that perhaps I shouldn’t be in “Jobs Wanted.” It is a job wanted ad, more specifically, work wanted as I am an independent contractor. I got one inquiry asking whether I'd be interested in relocating to Ohio. I'm not. But I have heard from people in the industry with whom I'd worked in various capacities, that's a plus.

Thanks for running the ad. I assume there will be more responses, one way or

another.

You should create another section and call it “outsourcing.”

Perhaps a section that has categories of services would be appropriate. I'm just always looking for ways to get my name out there, not looking for a hand-out or to take advantage. Let me know what you want me to do or if I can be of help.

Great idea.  For work for yourself, or for Jim Buckles who does System 1

work. This would be a win-win situation for all concerned.  If we leave

out any categories, let me know.  Perhaps we can have up and running

by the end of the week  as we figured a way to coordinate this off another

server.

We are not charging any fee or remuneration as our effort is to help

the industry, particularly to those out of work. editor
