now on line at: http://www.leasingnews.org/whateverhappenedto/Hal%20Hayden.htm ### denotes press release ________________________________________________________________ Parker Leasing This is the second inquiry Leasing News has received. We received one from another Soccer League, this one in Australia for quite a bit of money, asking if Leasing News knew about Parker Leasing and why they have not funded. “I am journalist of the Austrian newspaper WirtschaftsBlatt, the largest business paper of Austria. I am searching for hints about the ft. lauderdale company Parker Leasing and Financing. The reason: The Austrian Soccer Club FC Tirol of Innsbruck has made an agreement about leasing or cross-border-leasing with parker, tells Mr. Kerscher, president of FC Tirol and boss of Nike Austria. But lately some media in Austria questioned this deal, saying that Parker might not be a real company. “Can you help me? What do you know about Parker Leasing? “Best regards from Austria, Robert Prazak” newspaper WirtschaftsBlatt www.wirtschaftsblatt.at tel.: 00143 1 91919 392 mobil: 00143 699 115 162 10 fax: 00143 1 91919 259 Leasing News has received several complaints in the past regarding Parker Leasing, but was not able to get the compliant to sign their name, so things died or perhaps were settled. We do not know. We have had conversations with several people in the past at Parker Leasing, I believe. We suggested to Mr. Prazak that he hire Quick Trak to make an “inspection,” ask Don Froomer to send someone to give a description of the offices of Parker Leasing, it might give more credence to the concern. The total, the highest number since the week ended July 25, 1992, exceeded Wall Street analysts' expectations for a figure of 440,000 in the week to September 22. It is hard to quantify the impact of the September 11 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, a Labor Department spokeswoman said. But she added that the number of new claims had surged 11,000 in raw figures in New York state. __________________________________________________________________ National Association of Equipment Leasing Brokers Postpones California Regional Conference Originally scheduled for October 19-20, 2001, in Marina del Rey, California, the NAELB Board of Directors has decided to postpone the NAELB Regional Conference. ELA To Provide Input To Congress And Administration On Economic Stimulus Package ****************************** As Congress and the Bush Administration begin to discuss the development of what is being referred to as an "economic stimulus package," ELA is preparing recommendations on what should be included in the package. On Tuesday, ELA's Federal Tax Committee met via a conference call and determined that ELA should make three specific recommendations to the Congressional tax writing committees and the Treasury Department. First, that the Investment Tax Credit (ITC) be reinstituted. Second, that the 4th quarter convention be suspended or eliminated and third, that the "Pickle" rule as it applies to cross-border leases be repealed. According to ELA V.P. of Federal Government Relations Steve Fier, key members of the Senate Finance and House Ways and Means Committees have not yet determined that an economic stimulus package should be done. Earlier this week in a closed door session, members of the Senate Finance Committee met with FED Chairman Alan Greenspan and former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin who urged caution and restraint and told committee members that more data on the economy needs to come in and be evaluated before deciding whether a stimulus bill is necessary. But Fier said he believes that Congress is likely to want to do something to avoid being accused of letting the already weakened economy slide even further and that it is important that ELA gets its proposals in early if they are to receive any consideration. It is likely the letter will be sent early next week, Fier said. *********** The E-Leasing Newsletter is SPONSORED by: *********** Words cannot adequately express the shock and sadness felt by us regarding the tragedies that occurred Tuesday morning, September 11th. It should have read: If $20,000,000 is the only coverage for a portfolio in the billion dollar range, it will not be a drop in a very big bucket.
