Parker Leasing

This is the second inquiry Leasing News has received. We received one

from another Soccer League, this one in Australia for quite a bit of money,

asking if Leasing News knew about Parker Leasing and why they have not

funded.

“I am journalist of the Austrian newspaper WirtschaftsBlatt, the largest business paper of Austria. I am searching for hints about the ft. lauderdale company Parker Leasing and Financing. The reason: The Austrian Soccer Club FC Tirol of Innsbruck has made an agreement about leasing or cross-border-leasing with parker, tells Mr. Kerscher, president of FC Tirol and boss of Nike Austria. But lately some media in Austria questioned this deal, saying that Parker might not be a real company.

“Can you help me? What do you know about Parker Leasing?

“Best regards from Austria,

Robert Prazak”

Leasing News has received several complaints in the past regarding Parker Leasing, but was not able to get the compliant to sign their name, so things

died or perhaps were settled. We do not know.  We have had conversations

with several people in the past at Parker Leasing, I believe.  We suggested

to Mr. Prazak that he hire Quick Trak to make an “inspection,” ask Don Froomer

to send someone to give a description of the offices of Parker Leasing, it

might give more credence to the concern.

US jobless claims surge to 450,000

The number of people making new US unemployment benefit claims soared by 58,000 to a nine-year high of 450,000 last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

The total, the highest number since the week ended July 25, 1992, exceeded Wall Street analysts' expectations for a figure of 440,000 in the week to September 22.

It is hard to quantify the impact of the September 11 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, a Labor Department spokeswoman said. But she added that the number of new claims had surged 11,000 in raw figures in New York state.

Some Highlights from the Equipment Leasing Association Thursday

Newsletter sent to their members.

1.    ELA To Provide Input To Congress And Administration On Economic

Stimulus Package

******************************

As Congress and the Bush Administration begin to discuss the development of

what is being referred to as an "economic stimulus package," ELA is

preparing recommendations on what should be included in the package. On

Tuesday, ELA's Federal Tax Committee met via a conference call and

determined that ELA should make three specific recommendations to the

Congressional tax writing committees and the Treasury Department. First,

that the Investment Tax Credit (ITC) be reinstituted. Second, that the 4th

quarter convention be suspended or eliminated and third, that the "Pickle"

rule as it applies to cross-border leases be repealed.

According to ELA V.P. of Federal Government Relations Steve Fier, key

members of the Senate Finance and House Ways and Means Committees have not

yet determined that an economic stimulus package should be done. Earlier

this week in a closed door session, members of the Senate Finance Committee

met with FED Chairman Alan Greenspan and former Treasury Secretary Robert

Rubin who urged caution and restraint and told committee members that more

data on the economy needs to come in and be evaluated before deciding

whether a stimulus bill is necessary. But Fier said he believes that

Congress is likely to want to do something to avoid being accused of letting

the already weakened economy slide even further and that it is important

that ELA gets its proposals in early if they are to receive any

consideration. It is likely the letter will be sent early next week, Fier

said.

The last sentence got twisted in the text message. It should have read:

If $20,000,000 is the only coverage for a portfolio in the billion dollar

range, it will not be a drop in a very big bucket.

It pertains to the RW Professional portfolio at Sierra Cities.  We are

getting more and more background on this story, but the MidAm (now Sky

Financial) $750,000,000 portfolio in lieu with moving offices, credit

card concentration, and other matters has been keeping AmX executives

Heller Financial Enters into Strategic Agreement with Commercial Law Affiliates for Legal Representation

MINNEAPOLIS--Heller Financial, Inc. (NYSE:HF), a leading provider of commercial finance products and services, today announced that the company has entered into a strategic agreement with Commercial Law Affiliates for its legal service needs in the United States and Canada.

Under the agreement, Heller will designate Commercial Law Affiliates' (CLA) member firms as preferred providers of local counsel services in order to supplement and work in concert with Heller's primary partnering law firms. CLA, a worldwide nonprofit group of business law firms, will also provide legal counsel and services for Heller in selected international markets when needed.

By redirecting its local counsel needs to CLA's network, Heller expects to achieve significant efficiencies from a more coordinated use of outside local counsel without sacrificing quality of service. Heller currently uses more than 200 separate law firms annually for its local counsel needs.

"We believe that CLA's focus and philosophy is aligned with our partnering goal of efficiently delivering quality legal services to our business units and their clients," said Mary Alden, Heller's director of the CLA Partnering Program. "In addition, CLA's extensive domestic and international network means we have coverage in any location where Heller requires legal services. Furthermore, CLA's rigorous quality control system provides assurance that CLA member firms will be responsive to our clients' needs."

"This agreement reflects the growing interest that corporations have in developing efficient assistance with their legal needs in multiple locations," said Wendy Horn, CLA president. "CLA provides Heller with a coordinated, unified and cost-efficient solution to meet its legal counsel needs, while retaining the highest caliber and quality of legal representation. We will also provide Heller with evaluation records on members and a searchable database of information on each CLA lawyer. These resources aren't available from other law firms or networks."

Heller Financial, Inc. is a worldwide commercial finance company providing a broad range of sophisticated financing solutions. With nearly $20 billion in total assets, Heller offers equipment financing and leasing, sales finance programs, cash flow and collateral-based financing, financing for healthcare companies and financing for commercial real estate.
